Description

This was totally the hardest portrait I've ever drawn! The most difficult part was her hair and her dress.

Helena is great actress in case you don't know her. ;)

I was too lazy to finish it soon so I was drawing this for two months. (Hihi :D) And the scan sucks. I'll try to make better.

Time: 17 and half hour.

Used:

Vision

This is a good image of the actress, as she seems gazed and relaxed. I can also see a lot of work in the eyes and they really stand out. There is a great attention to details to this image when it come to her face especially her eyes. You cropped the image in a more interesting part and it helped balance the negative and positive space.

Originality

I really can not say it is that original. I did have to look harder to find the image you based it off of. But it is very much the same image. I will give you credit for staying faithful to the image. And you also cropped the original image. The cropping is the only modification I can see.

Technique

Your technique is very good when it comes to proportions. The value in the face is mostly good and the hair is nicely done. You do need to have a wider spectrum of value. I am not seeing any bright whites. You may need to balance the image on a photo editing software, such as levels and curves you can find on Photoshop Gimp or other softer were like those two. There should be some more intense values in the dress as well.

Impact

Perhaps what is holding the drawing back is the lack of a good photo and the editing of the photo. Now when you edit its balance in lighting it is not photo manipulation. That is necessary to bring balance you lighting can not being in the studio at time. Also the why you photographed your drawing. I am seeing some shadows at the top and that does not present well. Also you should not have the edge of the paper in the photo.

You do have talent in making photorealism works but what you may need to improve on the most is adding your own flavor and improving your photos of the works.

Good luck <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up"/>
